| The annual Dinner-Theater
Gala is the Trust’s major fund-raising
activity. Since the first gala in 1990, this community event has
grown
tremendously in popularity and has drawn together townspeople for
an evening of good food and entertainment, all to benefit the Trust
and ultimately Harvard’s schools. The
first three galas were held in late fall. Competing with pre-holiday
activities proved difficult, however, so in 1994 the gala became
an annual March or April event. Until 1999, all dinners were prepared by
just
two hard-working and dedicated people, Donna and Gene Solod, in the
kitchen of their Myrick Lane home. In 1999, cooking was done at
host
homes, then in 2000 the Trust gave the culinary reins to the talented
and popular Chef Paul Correnty. In 2005, a raffle was added to the
festivities. This year, there's a brand new format. . .everyone enjoying dinner and dessert at one venue, Fruitlands Museum on Prospect Hill. |

This
year's Gala will be held Saturday, April 10, 2010.
Reservation forms will be mailed to all Harvard and Still River residents the secord week of March.
The same form will be available for download here at that time.

The First Gala —————— |
Wish You Were There
The Harvard Schools Trust's gala
last Saturday night was a blast. Not only was the foodprepared
by just two incredibly ambitious cooksdelicious;
not only were the desserts, served after the play, properly
delectable; not only were Harvard's precocious young
actors entertaining and touching; but the event brought
together a wide assortment of townspeople, all dressed
to the teeth and feeling great. It was one of the best
all-town activities in years
It felt like old times.
Beyond that, there was the success
of the event as a money raiser. A gross of $10,000 is
nothing to sneeze at, and the money, we're sure, will
be put to good use. The whole thing was a wonderful
idea, wonderfully executed, and we can't wait for next
year.
